DALLAS, Dec. 9, 2008 — More than 2,000 students from 35 high schools across 11 states will ring in the New Year Texas style at the annual National AT&T Cotton Bowl Music Festival, Dec. 31, 2008 through Jan. 2, 2009, in Dallas.

Scheduled activities include concert band, jazz band and field show competitions, the televised Comerica Bank New Year’s Parade through downtown Dallas and nationally televised pre-game and halftime pageantry performances during the 73rd AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic. The Jan. 2 football game between Ole Miss and Texas Tech will be broadcast at 1 p.m. CST, on FOX-TV.

“We congratulate the high school students performing in this year’s National AT&T Cotton Bowl Music Festival and pageantry,” said Adrian Quintanilla, AT&T general manager of North Texas. “The students’ arrival will bring undoubted excitement, and we welcome them to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.”

The National Events AT&T Cotton Bowl Music Festival is one of several events developed by AT&T and the Cotton Bowl Athletic Association to extend the legacy of the Cotton Bowl Classic to future generations. Other activities include the AT&T Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame and the AT&T Cotton Bowl Art Contest.

The Comerica Bank New Year’s Parade on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at 2:30 p.m., will “Celebrate Community!” while welcoming thousands of visitors for the annual AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic.

The Ole Miss Rebel Band and the Texas Tech Goin’ Band from Raiderland will participate in the 1.5-mile parade, which benefits the Scovell Scholarship Foundation. The parade will be televised on KDFW-TV (FOX 4) in Dallas-Fort Worth and streamed live on myfoxdfw.com. For more information on the parade and music festival, go to attcottonbowl.com.
