DALLAS, December 1, 2009 — Comerica Bank announced today the Top 8 float designs in the Comerica Bank Vote for the Float Contest to be featured in the 2010 Comerica Bank New Year’s Day Parade in downtown Dallas.

Webb Middle School

Highland Park Middle School

Students were asked to design their floats around this year’s parade theme “Celebrate Entertainment.” The float receiving the most votes will be awarded $12,500.00 to be dedicated to the winning school’s visual arts programs. Second place receives $6,000.00, third place receives $3,000.00 and the remaining five finalist schools will each receive $500.00.

Voting on the floats will begin at 2:30 pm on January 1 and will conclude at 11:59 pm on January 2. AT&T customers can cast their vote via text message. Other voters can cast their vote online at www.voteforthefloat.com. Winners will be announced January 8, 2010.

This is the second year for the Comerica Bank Vote for the Float competition. Last year, competition was limited to middle schools in Dallas ISD. This year, the competition was opened to all middle schools in public school districts across Dallas County.

The Comerica Bank New Year’s Parade is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at 2:30 p.m. The 1.5-mile parade route begins in the Dallas Arts District on Ross Ave. in front of the Dallas Museum of Art and concludes in Victory Park at Houston St. and All-Star Way. Pep rallies featuring the AT&T Cotton Bowl university bands and cheer squads are tentatively scheduled immediately following the parade outside the American Airlines Center.

The family parade will feature some 80 entries including high school bands from across the country, 25 floats, helium balloons, equestrians, Cotton Bowl dignitaries, the world-famous Kilgore College Rangerettes, and the Cotton Bowl university bands, mascots, and cheerleaders.
